The son of a hardened gangster “DOLLA BOY” at the tender age of two years old was forced to flee his native home of Savannah following the nearly successful assassination attempt of his father that left with him eight bullets in his body. Miraculously recovering from what many close family members and friends feared were fatal gunshot wounds “DOLLA BOY’s” father along with his mother a career registered nurse relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.
Moving around from one dangerous side of town to the next his family eventually moved to arguably the most notorious area on Atlanta’s deadly south side “Godby Road” located in College Park, Georgia. Home to hustlers, drug addicts, prostitutes, pimps, killers, and ballers Godby Road or “G-Road” as it’s often referred to is as much a part of who “DOLLA BOY” is as is his signature flawless rap style. As a youth “DOLLA BOY” was standout point guard on Atlanta’s street circuit basketball league and an up and coming rapper with loads of untapped potential. Sadly, the lure of fast money, expensive jewelry, fancy cars, and the street fame that went along with being a drug dealer/d-boy was too strong a temptation for “DOLLA BOY” to resist.
Forced to deal with the mental anguish of several of his closest friends being murdered or sent to prison for the rest of their lives was unfortunately not enough to derail “DOLLA BOY’s” massive appetite for the street life. While he somehow managed to graduate from North Clayton High School “DOLLA BOY” who started rapping in the sixth grade put more time in the streets hustling drugs than on either music or sports. Truly misguided but one hundred percent dedicated to being the most successful “D-Boy” the “A-town” had ever seen he took to the streets like a mad man possessed. Always in and out of trouble his thug ways finally caught up to him in the form of a two year prison sentence. It was during his incarceration that childhood friend and Grammy Award Winning rapper Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges burst onto the scene.
“DOLLA BOY” befriended the star rapper as teen while hustling in the same apartment complex that the “Disturbing the Peace” superstar lived in. Immediately after getting out of prison the reformed “D-Boy” took the future rap mogul up on a previous offer that if he ever made it big in the music industry he would look out for him and his long time best friend/rhyme partner “TITTY BOI” aka “TWO CHAINS” who together comprise the dynamic duo “PLAYAZ CIRCLE” and the rest is as they say history. Having thus far had a career that few MC’s could only dream of “DOLLA BOY” has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, two major released albums, freshmen-“Supply and Demand”, sophomore- “Flight 360”, prominently featured on four platinum and two gold selling albums, signed to three major labels, “Disturbing the Peace”, “Def Jam”, and “Universal records, garnering the #1 rap single of 2007 “Duffle Bag Boy”, having the highest selling rap single of 2007 “Duffle Bag Boy” with more than 7 million units sold worldwide, releasing six certified street classic mix tape cds- the “FU” series volumes one through four, “Duffle Bag Boy”, and “The Take Off” hosted by DJ Scream. Additionally, “DOLLA BOY” writes his lyrics without use of pen or paper ally “Jay-Z” has collaborated with many of the biggest names in music to include but not limited to Lil Wayne, Rocko, Bobby Valentino, Young Dro, Pastor Troy, Shawnna, The Dayton Family, Three Six Mafia, Rick Ross, Raekwon (from Wu-Tang Klan), Jagged Edge, and Ludacris. Equally astute in matters of business as he is a talent “DOLLA BOY” is the Co-founder and Co-CEO of “Duffle Bag Boy Records”, LLC, and owner of several highly successful companies in the Atlanta Metro area.
Busier than ever promoting what many are calling the hottest mix tape cd in the South “Public Enemy #1” that features the smash hits, “Keep It On the Low” that feat: Ludacris, “Whip Game Crazy”, and “Grindin” feat: “Playaz Circle” group mate “Two Chains” is what makes this proud father of two handsome young sons the quintessential example of the new “American Dream”.
