DR. TONGIE SCOTT, M.D.

When a person is able to turn failure into success, they are usually considered a “winner”, and if they overcome obstacles in the face of adversity, they are often considered a “hero”. However, when an individual is able to turn numerous life-altering catastrophes into monumental triumphs, they are called Dr. Tongie Scott. Having lived a life that could have easily seen her become a casualty of her environment, Dr. Scott instead proved that hard work, honesty, education, perseverance, charitable deeds, and having a strong relationship with God are the keys to obtaining “The American Dream”. Born in Columbus, Mississippi and raised in one of the worst housing projects in the State, Yorkville, served as the rearing site for a woman destined to be a role model for females worldwide. A very astute student, Dr. Scott earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Jackson State University, and received her medical degree from Grace University School of Medicine.

For many, becoming a highly successful medical doctor specializing in geriatrics and pediatrics would be the fulfillment of an excellent career. Not so, for Dr. Scott who has long since devoted her life to serving God. A tireless advocate for the rights of all humans, especially senior citizens for which she is a world-renowned authority, is the legacy most cherished by this pillar of the medical profession. Extremely busy, complements of being an internationally sought after inspirational speaker, ranking member of the Georgia Chapter of the National Private Duty Association, and heading as well as working with several Non-Profit organizations’ advisory boards throughout the city of Atlanta and the State of Georgia, are the indelible attributes that make Dr. Scott one of the most respected medical authorities in the United States.

Ever the entrepreneur, Dr. Scott is the founder and CEO of two highly successful companies, Me and My Nanna, LLC., a home care agency founded in 2005 and Me and My Nanna Professional Nanny founded in 1995. Additionally, Dr. Scott proudly serves as Servant Leader of the Intake Ministry for New Birth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Bishop Eddie L. Long. At a point in her career where the fruits of her labor are at an all time high, it would be hard to fathom that this same super successful and highly decorated doctor was once a victim of rape and homeless. Thus is the case of Dr. Tongie Scott, who although forced to endure countless acts of sexual, physical, and emotional suffering managed through God’s divine power to rise from the pain, similar to a rose growing through concrete.

As a happily married mother of three Dr. Scott enjoys her life as an in demand specialist in the geriatric medicine community. Nothing however, could have prepared this noble soul for the miracle that would await her. After regularly sending hundreds of encouraging email messages over a period of two years to a gravely ill elderly man, who she never physically met, resulted in Dr. Scott being left an astonishing quarter of a billion dollars in the will of the dying gentleman. Once more, the dying man’s last wish was to build thousands of living quarters for the senior citizens. In an act of paying it forward of epic proportions, the man’s dream has become a reality brought to fruition by Dr. Scott’s First Choice Senior Living, a National organization created for seniors who don’t live at home with their families and choose not to live in a nursing home. A labor of love for Dr. Tongie Scott who shines as living proof that it doesn’t matter where you come from when God has a purpose for your life.
